High-temperature viscosity measurement

High temperature melting observation

This test uses the HTO (High Temperature Observation) system developed by Glass Service to evaluate glass behaviour at high temperatures.
The following types of observations and simulations are available:

Refractory testing: Compare different materials in contact with molten glass
Bubble release tests: Optimise batch compositions or compare multiple batches
Fining tests: Evaluate glass under different atmospheric pressures and gas introductions
Bubble growth/shrinkage tests: Analyze behavior over time and temperature during melting
Others Customized tests: Tailored experiments based on customer requirements

Example: Batch Composition Optimization.
Experiments are carried out to improve fining by adjusting the batch composition (e.g. comparing 4 versions under identical conditions). Version #3 was found to be the most effective.

Example: Reboil Bubble Observation
A video shows the rapid formation of reboil bubbles from around 1470°C to 1530°C, initiated by a platinum wire.
